October Rucking Challenge

War of the Worlds

The Challenge:
Ruck 1 Hour. Alternate between 5 minutes at normal pace and 5 minutes at a very fast pace.

Let's do this

October Challenge

On Halloween Eve in 1938, a dramatic radio broadcast of HG Wells’ War of the Worlds was performed. In the style of a normal radio show, the “regular” music was interrupted with a news bulletin of a strange occurrence in New Jersey.

The radio play bounces back and forth between music and these “news bulletins.” As the bulletins continue, the story of invading aliens becomes clear.

While some missed the initial announcement that this was a radio play, many citizens became deeply concerned and believed there was truly an alien invasion.

You can hear the original broadcast here.

For October, we’ll ruck the War of the Worlds by rucking for one hour. In the “back and forth” style of radio show, we will ruck 5 minutes at a “normal” pace and then 5 minutes in a very fast pace (as if you just discovered there was an alien invasion).

Continue this back and forth pace for an hour.

For this challenge:

Difficulty:

All Ruckers will perform the 5/5 alternating pace.

Weight:

Rucker’s Choice.
